Italian Beauty Secret : DIY Olive Oil Sugar Scrub

Italian Beauty Secret : Olive Oil

Since we have been in Italy I discovered 4 wonderful Italian beauty rituals that are passed over by generations by Italian women.
Today we will start off with … Olive Oil. Behind our house there is an orchard full of olive trees and in the fall families come together to pluck them together. There is something so magical about that scene and as I pluck an olive off a tree I think of all the energy that goes into making the delicious end product: Olive Oil.
And next to the flavor it gives to all my Italian dishes these days, I have discovered that it does wonders for my skin! Packed with antioxidants, healthy fats, and vitamins, olive oil nourishes, hydrates, and revitalizes the skin, leaving it radiant and glowing. I love it!

Recipe: Olive Oil and Sugar Scrub

Exfoliation is an essential step in any skincare routine, and this homemade scrub combines the moisturizing properties of olive oil with the gentle exfoliation of sugar! It helps remove dead skin cells, promote circulation, and leave your skin smooth and revitalized. Let's dive into the recipe:

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon granulated sugar (white or brown)

Instructions:

In a small bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil and granulated sugar.
Stir the mixture well until the sugar is fully coated with the olive oil, creating a paste-like consistency.
Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry.
Using clean fingertips, apply the olive oil and sugar scrub to your face, using gentle circular motions.
Focus on areas that tend to be dry or dull, such as the forehead, nose, and chin.
Continue massaging the scrub into your skin for 1-2 minutes, allowing the sugar granules to exfoliate and the olive oil to moisturize.
Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water, ensuring all the scrub is removed.
Gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

(* Perform this olive oil and sugar scrub once a week to avoid over-exfoliation)

Italian beauty wisdom has long embraced the natural benefits of olive oil. Even though it might make you think of salad instead of skincare at first - I promise you will be surprised by the power of olive oil after you try this recipe!

With love,

Saar
